Chris + Patricia | Intimate Maine Wedding | Deer Isle

When Patricia first reached out and sent an inquiry to me, I replied that it was unlikely I would be able to capture their day due to some surrounding bookings. We set up a time to chat anyway and it wasn’t hard for them to talk me into adding their quaint wedding into an already busy season - and I’m so glad they did! If you haven’t been out to Deer Isle before, it is a great area that can be accessed via a bridge. It is OUT THERE too and feels like quite the drive after you turn off Route 1 haha. While the day wasn’t as clear as one may have hoped, the rains thankfully held off for most of the day! It wasn’t until I was driving home that evening that it started to rain more heavily. Chris and Patricia had this lovely little wedding planned with a select group of friends and family. I love to capture more intimate wedding events like this and hope that you enjoy reliving the day through these photos!

It’s not often that I’m sent off to do photos of the bridesmaids themselves, but just look at this two! Isla and Maisy were the sweetest!

They were tasked with bringing their dad a gift, and spent some time in the cabin with him as he got ready.

Back in the main house, Patricia’s mother was helping her get ready for the ceremony.

After a few quick snaps on the back porch, it was time to head down to the water where they would be getting married! It was a bit cold and windy, but they were gifted with just a touch of sunshine as the ceremony ended!

We took some (very) quick family photos down by the shore, before Patrica and Chris spent some time alone to capture some shots down on the docks.

Since it was cloudy and cool down by the water, we retreated up to the yard, set up a light and finished up some portraits. I love these!

The rest of the evening was a very relaxed, family dinner sort of occasion. They shared a first dance and spent the evening enjoying everyone’s company. Dinner was catered by “Milk & Honey”, who did an amazing job and had the most incredible staff! One of the best meals I’ve had all year.

Wil + Liz | Castine, Maine Wedding Photographer

What a beautiful day it ended up being for Wil and Liz's destination wedding in Castine, ME! Many friends and family traveled long distances to come and celebrate with them on pretty short notice. The amazing feat was the result of only a short 6 weeks planning and preparation time! The plan was simple though, an intimate wedding with a little over 30 close friends and family. They enjoyed the week on this beautiful river front property, with the finale being the wedding day!  I arrived to everyone bustling about and helping put the final pieces in place, including the beautiful arbor just built that morning! Except for moment when I stepped backward and crushed a can of beer that ended up soaking my shoe, I had an amazing time with these two, and their lovely friends/family. Everyone was so welcoming and it was more like being one of the guests, with everyone knowing me by name. It is possible that sharing names with both Liz's father and brother helped though haha. Instead of having a favorite memory, I most enjoyed seeing everyone have such a relaxing good time together. Not all weddings can be described that way! I hope you enjoy the photos as much I enjoyed being there to capture them!

I love toasts with laughs and tears! Liz's sisters' headbutting stories probably had to be the best though!

It's rare that I would leave the reception for photos, but wow, so worth it! A short 5 minute ride led us to this beautiful west-facing beach in Castine for Sunset!
