Hi, I’m James! You can hire anyone to take a photo, or press a button on a camera. You’ll hire me to create magic. What I want more than anything is to capture something you will cherish for the rest of your life. We’re going to capture the REAL you, and not just a stiff/posed/uncomfortable version of yourself. You’ll have fun, and I will capture it… it’s really that simple! If we’re talking about your wedding day, my goal is for you to have a blast, while I capture everything like a fly on the wall! I can’t tell you the amount of times clients have said that at they didn’t always even realize I was there. Don’t worry though, along with capturing all the memories and moments from your special day, we’ll get a handful of breathtaking portraits as well. Having captured over 160 weddings, I’m an established, international award winning professional photographer, but that doesn’t mean I’m not down to earth, easy going, and fun. One of the highlights of my career came in 2020 of all years. I had been ranked as one of the top 10 wedding photographers in the country after the results of the International Photographic Competition and was thrilled to share the stage in Nashville with my peers. I was over the moon just to share the stage with such talent and was left in complete shock as they announced my name for the 2nd place trophy! This was all only hours after receiving my Master of Photography Degree, which I was excited to earn in only 3 years.

My Experience.
I've captured over 160 weddings since 2012 and am well known for being one of the hardest working photographers you will meet… willing to do anything to get the shot. Your wedding day a little rainy? I'll get a little wet. Is it five degrees below zero? I'll get frostbite. Are you dreading family formals? I'll make it move fast so that you can move on. Beyond that, I've had beer spilled on me, I've loaned my belt to a groom, I've saved wedding dress disasters, I’ve had my gear run over by an ATV…I've also climbed, crawled, ducked, squatted, contorted my body, and just about anything you can imagine on a wedding day to get the shot. I've even chased a train and jumped off a boat…multiple times!

Laureh and I have been very happily married since 2012! If you play your cards right, she'll even be the 2nd photographer at your wedding. We live in midcoast Maine and can just barely see the ocean out of our fixer-upper home we purchased back in 2014. Thankfully, my previous business was in carpentry, so buying a house needing loads of work was fine…ish haha. On our days off, we enjoy taking our sailboat on the ocean, traveling the world, sitting around with a good book, or completely vegging out in front of Netflix. Laureh is a dental hygienist by day, so make sure you've flossed before meeting her! haha
Laureh and I are fun loving people, and definitely complete goofs at times. During covid quarantine she said, "Hey, let's do a cover and a music video", so I pulled out the equipment and we had some fun with it. The result was this music video intended to give a few laughs in an otherwise depressing time. As you can see, we don't take ourselves too seriously...
Little James circa late 80's, rockin out! One of my passions is music, and it’s rare that music isn’t spinning in the background, no matter what I’m doing. Might be Switchfoot, Copeland, Anberlin, Jimmy Eat World, Death Cab For Cutie, Weezer, Noah Gunderson, MXPX, Marcus King, and well... you get the idea. I’ll put up with line dances at your wedding, but only barely… ;)
