David + Erin | North Peak Lodge Wedding | Newry, Maine

So good to be back at one of my favorite wedding destinations in Maine! Sunday River and the whole Bethel/Newry area have such beautiful scenery and having your wedding on top of the mountain is a blast! I enjoyed connecting with Dave and Erin when they originally booked and we discussed how much we both enjoy to travel. These two are all about going on adventures together, so what a perfect spot to get hitched, right? We certainly couldn’t have asked for a more comfortable September day, with clear skies and temperature of fall starting to set in. So glad I was chosen to capture this day, and I hope you enjoy reliving it!

North Peak Lodge Wedding Sunset

We started out the day at the covered bride in Newry for the first look and wedding party photos. Dave arrived to help “dress” their dogs for the wedding ceremony.

For groomsmen gifts, the boys were given these awesome custom engraved axes with their names on them. There was one groomsmen though who maybe shouldn’t have been entrusted with sharp objects…haha

Ceremony

After some photos at the Sunday River Bridge, it was time to jump on the chairlifts for a ride up to the North Peak Lodge , where the guests were waiting! Dave and Erin opted to write their own vows, bringing both tears and laughter to those witnessing. Dave’s vows “a.k.a rules” were a particularly amusing touch!

Reception

After enjoying cocktail hour and a few last sunset shots with those amazing views, it was time to head in for the intros and first dance. Dave and Erin clearly had put some work into a rather elegant first dance!

Schooner Olad Wedding | Camden, Maine Elopement Photographer

As someone who owns a couple sailboats of my own, the opportunity to capture a wedding on a schooner was a welcomed request! What a perfect way to have a small destination wedding on the coast of Maine. Not only was a beautiful August afternoon, but it was also during the Maine Windjammer Festival, meaning the harbor was extra full of classic vessels! After some quick family portraits in the Camden Amphitheater, it was time to board the Schooner Olad!

The Schooner Olad was built in 1927 as a yacht, and now serves as a scenic private charter vessel right out of downtown Camden, Maine.

Camden Harbor

As we set out toward open ocean, you get a great view of the Camden waterfront. If you look closely enough, you can even spot the Mount Battie tower as well!

Ceremony

Now that we were out far enough, it was time to get married! Captain Aaron performed the ceremony as family watched. You couldn’t ask for a better spot for an intimate Maine wedding like this!

With the harbor being so busy, the boat was motored out in open water before raising the sails. What a fun first act as husband and wife!

So many beautiful things to see from the water, including the Curtis Island Lighthouse just off the mainland.

This day was a particularly windy one, with winds forecast up to 25 knots! HOLD ON haha!

While out to sail, we were even graced with the presence of an adolescent eagle on the rocks! Some sunbathing seals as well.

The bride and groom even had the opportunity to steer the vessel for a while.

As we arrived back at the harbor, it was time to walk around downtown Camden some for some final portraits. A perfect way to finish up your wedding day before a fun evening out on the town!
