Framed Prints (NEW!)

Our high resolution prints are now available in one of three frame options(Maple, Black, Gold Ornate). Prints are mounted in the frame behind a special non-glare glass to help combat reflection, and can optionally have a white or black photo mat that will extend 2" around the edge of the print. If a mat is desired, plan on the final print to have about 4" added to the total dimension. (Example: A 16"X24" print would have an outside dimension of about 20"x28" before the frame). Each of the three frame styles do have alternative finish options by request, though I chose my three favorite!

You can see in the examples above how clear the prints are, just like you were viewing on a screen! There is of course some difference in the way a print looks, as opposed to viewing it on a backlit screen. My goal is to have my prints match what I see on my calibrated monitors as closely as possible!

Our prints Versus Theirs

The two examples I share below are close up photos taken from a small 4X6 print. Even blowing up such a small print, you can see the difference right away in the prints we offer versus the one printed by a standard online photo lab. The resolution is much higher, the paper is thicker, the contrast is better, the clarity is superior, and the colors are truer! No processing was done on the photos and everything was captured with all of the same settings, environment, and lighting.

Every print is re-cropped to match the print size ordered

When you order a specific size print, we will go back to the original photo to re-crop for printing. Have you ever ordered a print and then had something cut off that you didn’t expect? I often will capture enough in a frame to leave more room to crop later, so sometimes the final digital image you see could have room for a different sized print. For example, in the first photo below you see the finished digital image cropped to a standard 2:3 ratio(4x6, 8x12, etc). But if you were to order an 8x10 with that, you could end up cutting someone off. In the second photo, you can see the benefit of having it re-cropped from the original capture for our prints!

B&W Legacy Matte Prints

These Black and White prints are printed exclusively on only 5x7 or 8.5x11 paper, with optional photo mats(highly recommended). The 8.5x11 can be optionally hand cut to 8x10 and pre-mounted in photo mat for an 11x14 frame, while the 5x7 photo can come pre-mounted in a 8x10 mat. These will have a different look than our standard prints as they are printed on an extra thick fine art paper. The feel of this paper is amazing, and combined with the soft contrast that you get from a matte style paper. I would note that the contrast is different when printed on this paper as you can see in a comparison below, so it will look different than the digital file. Any color photo ordered as a B&W Legacy print, will be reprocessed in B&W for an exceptional and different look.

Extra Large Prints (over 13”x19”)

Part of hiring a professional photographer is having the ability to order large high resolution prints of your photos! You can see me below holding a 16x24 inch print of a scene I captured in Scotland. I LOVE large prints and there’s nothing like seeing a photo as this up close! You will note below how I am able to hold the print, and this is due to having it mounted on an 1/8” piece of Masonite. The difficulty with large prints can be mounting them in a frame, simply because it can be hard to keep the photo flat and without wrinkles/buckles. You are of course welcome to order with or without the Masonite backing! Any photos we offer over 13x19 have the option to have it mounted on the backing. If you order without the backing(just the loose print), I recommend having a professional framer mount it for you with a mat and frame. Another option for large photos is to order a canvas print, but the thing I love about an actual print is how much more detail of the original image is retained!

Wedding Albums

A timeless way to preserve and display the memories from your wedding day is to have them placed in a physical album! Our heirloom quality albums are designed in house and then crafted by a top, professional lab. These albums are only available to order by professional photographers and far surpass the quality of other “consumer grade” companies. Your custom wedding album will be crafted from the finest materials and printed on archival quality 1/32” paper, or extra thick 1/16” paper. At the spline, images will be seamless from one page to the next using “layflat” paper, providing beautiful panoramic spreads. The cover is made from a premium Italian full grain leather, with various options that can be adjusted to your preference. Additionally available are parent or “companion albums”. After the initial design and order are completed, additional copies can be purchased at a discount for family who would like one of their own!
