Jake + Amelia | South Thomaston Maine Wedding Photographer

I'm used to a lot of traveling for weddings but, lucky for me, Jake and Amelia's wedding was only a few blocks from home! I met them last year for their engagement shoot and have been looking forward to their wedding ever since. The plan was to have a simple and laid back party with friends and family, which is exactly what they did! It was a lively party and a busy scene from the moment I showed up, with Amelia still doing a lot of the hands on decorating. It's also rare to see the bride doing others' makeup haha! This was for sure a fun day and I'm so glad to have been invited to be a part of it. I hope you have as much fun looking through the photos as I did capturing them!

Baby Harper would certainly steal the show at times. She was slightly apprehensive when I first arrived, but warmed up fast. In fact, once it was decided I was ok, her gaze would follow me wherever I went, which made for some adorable shots!

The plan was for Harper to be pulled down the Aisle for the ceremony in a wagon, but she was fussiest leading up to that point! Amelia sprang into "mom mode" before the ceremony to comfort her and calm her down. It wasn't looking hopeful that she would want to participate, but dad insisted that his daughter came down the aisle as planned. Thankfully after a little rest, she did indeed make it down the aisle, which was so cute!

Roman + Shaina's Wedding | The Samoset Resort | Rockport, Maine Wedding Photographer

What a beautiful day it ended up being for Roman and Shaina's wedding! This is the kind of day a photographer dreams of, a wonderful couple, great scenery, successful bubble exits, a gorgeous 1940's hot rod, ballroom dancing(plus a Hora), and finally, a clear sky with stars! The day started out with everyone getting ready at The Samoset Resort in Rockport, ME.  Local to me, this is a great location to have your wedding day festivities. After the bride and groom were ready, they met on the deck for a first look. Roman's reaction had to be on of my favorites of all time - just look at his face! Once we were finished with some family and bridal portraits, it was off to Synagogue Adas Yoshuron for the Ketubah signing and wedding ceremony. I always love the opportunity to experience new things, like the Ketubah signing, which is the Jewish equivalent of a marriage license or agreement. The ceremony was capped off with a fun bubble exit and the getaway car was a beautiful rose colored 1940's hot rod. Certainly couldn't have asked for a better prop to use for a few photos! The evening was capped off with some well planned dances, a memorable hora dance, and lastly a beautifully clear sky for a final portrait under the stars!

It's hard to pick a favorite moment from the day, but this was such an emotionally beautiful moment, and probably my favorite! The morning of the wedding, the Grandmother took a terrible fall which resulted in a trip to the hospital. She was, very sadly, not expected to join in on the day's festivities. After the the ceremony though, we arrived back at the samoset where an an ambulance was waiting with grandmother to greet them! This moment brought me to tears as her husband in a wheelchair came to greet his bride on a gurney. It was such a happy moment for her to have made an appearance or as she put it, "I'm known for making grand entrances, you shouldn't expect anything less". That may be a slight paraphrase, but that was the gist of it!
